    The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that's bringing relief to communities around the world who suffer needlessly from a lack of access to clean water.

    • We take it for granted, we waste it, and we even pay too much to drink it from little plastic bottles. 

      And still, today, nearly 1 billion people in the developing world don't have access to it.

       

      Clean, safe drinking water is scarce. It is the foundation of life, a basic human need. Yet today, all around the world, far too many people spend their entire day searching for it.

    novations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a nonprofit organization that creates and evaluates solutions to social and development problems, and works to scale up successful ideas through implementation and dissemination to policymakers, practitioners, investors and donors.

    • Each year, 1.6 million children die from waterborne diseases such as diarrhea and cholera. Unsafe drinking water is a leading cause of diarrhea. Treating drinking water with dilute chlorine solution can cut child diarrhea by 20-40%.  Despite extensive social marketing, adoption of point-of-use chlorine products sold in shops has remained low, and in most countries is below 15%.

    The World Water Council is an international multi-stakeholder platform. It was established in 1996 on the initiative of renowned water specialists and international organizations, in response to an increasing concern about world water issues from the global community.

    • While the world's population tripled in the 20th century, the use of renewable water resources has grown six-fold. Within the next fifty years, the world population will increase by another 40 to 50 %. This population growth - coupled with industrialization and urbanization - will result in an increasing demand for water and will have serious consequences on the environment.
